A Diet Is The Perfect Time To Eat A Lot

A lot of different foods that is. It will keep you satisfied. Eating the same kinds of food or the usual stuff doesn’t give you the satisfaction you crave, so you’re tempted to eat more. So try something different like tuna mixed with diced apples. The tastes actually complement each other. Just toss some different crisp vegetables.

Try some new flavors you may have not had in a while, like sardines, kipper snacks, cottage cheese, cold leftovers from the grill. Then add sides like fresh fruits, melon, nuts and even dried fruits. The protein will keep you satisfied longer.  Just be careful about the portions.

TODAY: EAT SOMETHING NEW OR THAT YOU HAVEN’T HAD IN A WHILE.

Chuck or Cluck?

Now that you’ve got the grill fired up you don’t want to keep doing burgers. I know it tasted good, but there is a reason that chicken is the mainstay of diets. Grilled, skinless, chicken cooked quickly on a grill so it doesn’t dry out can be as flavorful as the fat filled burger. (even without the bun) It saves you a lot of calories too.

3 oz chicken breast = 140 calories, and 26.38g protein
3 oz extra lean ground beef = 224 calories, and 23g protein.

TODAY: SKIP THE BEEF.

Spaghetti Without Wheat Is a Home Run

non-spaghettiYou can skip carbs and and still enjoy “spaghetti”. Face it. It’s the meat sauce that you really taste. Skip the gluten and carb filled wheat sticks soaked in water. You won’t miss it at all. I’ve suggested this dish before. It’s one of my favorites. A nice meat sauce ladled over a plate of steamed broccoli is actually much more flavorful and definitely better for you.

No wheat and veggies too. It’s a solid double play.

TODAY: SKIP EATING PROCESSED FLOUR FOODS.

To Market, To Market

As we wrap up No Wheat Week head to one of the weekend farmer’s markets and stock up on some great veggies and fruit. The American Dietetic Association recommends at least 3 – 5 servings of fruit and 3 – 7 of vegetables. Since they both are really dense in nutrition and fiber you’ll satisfy your hunger and give your body the cholesterol clearing boost that’s also good for your colon. So, eat up!

TODAY: SHOP AT THE MARKET FOR FRESH FRUIT AND VEGETABLES.

Leaf The Wheat Out Of Your Sandwich

Sometimes you just need a quick lunch and a sandwich would be perfect. Well, go ahead and make a great one without the bread. Just use a couple of nice big leaves of lettuce as the base for a wrap. Add all your favorite meats and cheeses, some nice spicy brown mustard, dill pickle, or a mustard/mayo/horseradish sauce (with a dash of Worcestershire) then wrap it up and enjoy. Sure you may need a couple of extra napkins. But you’ll find it’s very satisfying.

Oh, for some more crispness add a leaf of cabbage. It’s a great source of more fiber too.

TODAY: HAVE A LETTUCE WRAP FOR LUNCH

No Wheat Week

This week we’re going to re-visit dropping wheat from your daily diet. Dieters who have dropped wheat products have noticed improvements in energy, mood and sleep. I know it may not be easy to do, sonce we have so many wheat products around. (And I love them all.) But by dropping the bread, pasta, crackers and especially the pastries you WILL see a difference. I notice in as little as a day that I actually feel less bloated. Couple that with five daily servings of fruits and vegetables plus that 30 minutes of walking and you’ve got a recipe for success.

TODAY: DROP WHEAT PRODUCTS FROM YOUR MENU.
